Classic Chevrolet Protects the Dealership from Fraud with Informativ

Locations: Texas — Grapevine

The Results

Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, Texas is the #1 Chevy dealership in the world by volume. With customers coming from all over the country and a high volume of vehicles being sold, dealership security is a critical part of protecting the business, the team, and every deal.

For Aaron Cameron, Finance Director at Classic Chevrolet, Informativ was already a proven solution. “I’ve actually used Informativ for about 10 years,” Cameron says. “I’ve used it for a couple different stores. So, when I got here, I thought it would be a great idea to bring it over here.”

At Classic Chevrolet, Informativ helps the dealership verify customers early in the process and reduce the risk of dealership fraud before it creates a bigger problem.

“It’s really the dealership security,” Cameron explains. “It’s the main thing to protect from fraud. Since we sell so many cars to so many people all over the country, we need to make sure that it’s a real person and not a stolen identity.”

For Cameron, one of the biggest benefits is the ability to verify a customer’s driver’s license while keeping the deal process organized in one place.

“That’s the one main thing that I think is the biggest benefit that you guys provide is the driver’s license [scan],” Cameron says. “And then everything’s done in one file.”

Before partnering with Informativ, Classic Chevrolet had experienced fraud. Now, the dealership has a better way to identify potential issues before they move too far through the sales process.

“We have had fraud get through before Informativ,” Cameron says. “Now it’s easier and better for us to catch it going forward.”

As fraud tactics continue to evolve, Cameron sees identity theft as a major concern for dealers. Fake driver’s licenses, altered documents, and fraudulent pay stubs can be difficult for dealership staff to detect on their own.“It’s identity theft for sure,” Cameron explains. “It’s someone bringing a fake driver’s license which with the help of technology looks pretty good. So, they can make a driver’s license now and pay stubs and stuff like that, that we can’t always catch with the naked eye, but Informativ’s technology does catch them.”

For Classic Chevrolet, Informativ adds an important layer of protection to the dealership process, helping the team verify identities, organize deal information, and protect the store from fraud with a faster, more secure sales process.
